Wallet Home Industry – Lebak

After visiting the brick making facility, we were then taken to an industry where they made wallets. Now, when I say industry, I’m not talking about a facility where they make wallets in huge numbers. The wallets, yes, they are produced on a scale of thousands. But the people making the wallets, a mere 4.

A lot of us use wallets and purses to carry our hard earned money. In fact, everyone of us do. It keeps our money and our important documents like cards, safe. Ever wondered what goes into making such an important accessory? Well, it may seem simple for us, but when it comes to making thousands of them, things get a little complicated…times thousand. The place I visited only had 2 workers working on site. I was told that there were a total of 4 workers responsible for making the wallets, and that the other 2 worked at home.

The first thing that is needed to make a wallet, is a well engineered design. The wallets being made here were of different shapes and sizes, which only adds to the complications. Of course, machines and tools are needed as well, since we’re talking about thousands of wallets. Time is of the essence. Since there are only 4 workers, they also require machines and tools in order to meet the huge demands of the wallets in the shortest amount of time. If there were a lot more workers, then it would have been a completely different story. The workers require tools to cut the materials from which the wallets are to be made, and machines to stitch them all together. Of course, these things can be done manually by hand as well, but they would require a lot more time than the time required while using tools and machines.

It takes the workers about 10,000 IDR to make a wallet, and it is then sold at a price of 15,000 IDR.  I was told that the business produced around about 3000 wallets every single day, and this was made possible with the help of Dompet Dhuafa, as prior to the Dompet Dhuafa’s help, the business only produced about 1000 wallets. The business was now working at 300%, thanks to Dompet Dhuafa. It helped the business by granting them 25,000,000 (million) IDR and giving them 3 machines to work on. This increased the business’s speed, and also led to an increase in their profits as it was now possible for the business to make more wallets easily.
